Data Security - Hospitality

Radiant Systems’ Hospitality Division takes the security of our systems very seriously.  We are committed to working together with our clients and partners to ensure the most secure operating environment possible.  The baseline for this commitment is validation of our systems as meeting the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA DSS). In fact we were among the first point-of-sale providers in the industry to achieve validated status under the predecessor to the PA DSS.

• Radiant Hospitality was one of the first hospitality POS vendors to have our products validated against Visa’s Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) (Spring 2005).
• Radiant Hospitality has developed and implemented internal policies and controls to ensure that, in the event our staff must access sensitive data, the data is safeguarded while in our hands.
• Radiant Hospitality develops new software and makes modifications to existing software, using the principles of the PA DSS to ensure continued protection as our solutions evolve.
• Each Radiant Hospitality product line supports contactless payment to prevent payment cards from leaving the consumer’s hand.

In addition to PA DSS validation, Radiant is also committed to helping restaurant operators secure cardholder information through:

• Contactless payment to prevent payment cards from leaving the consumer’s hand
• Pay-at-table devices for Aloha POS to allow cardholders total visibility of their card
• Self-swipe kiosks for ticketing and QSR food ordering
• Training and education at  Radiant events

We strongly recommend that each customer work closely with their Radiant account team to develop a migration strategy to the appropriate PA DSS validated release. The risks of not moving to a validated release include potential exposure of personal credit card numbers to outside entities and potential fines from the card companies, as well as other potential liabilities. For clients without a support and maintenance contract, or who have non-validated versions installed, we strongly recommend that you become current on maintenance and move to one of the validated versions of software.
